Hanging a mezuzah is an active commandment featured in the passage of the Shema in Deuteronomy. Many later Jewish texts such as the Talmud and Kabbalah describe its significance as a protector of the home and the dweller. The scroll, written by a kosher scribe upon parchment, contains the first two passages of Shema.

How to put up your new mezuzah:

Placement: The right side of the doorway upon coming in, in the top third of the doorpost. Some fix the mezuzah on their doorway diagonally, so that the top is closer to the inside.

The blessing:

Transliterated: “Baruch ata ado- nai Elo – haynu melech haolam asher kidishanu bemitzvotav vetzivanu likvoa mezuzah”

Translation: Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe, Who sanctified us with his mitzvot, and commanded us to affix a mezuzah.

After the recitation of the blessing, attach the mezuzah.

You will recieve an order confirmation by email upon purchase. With your purchase of a mezuzah scroll as a gift we can also add a personalized note from you!

We also have a range of fountains which take wine from one glass and distribute it among a large number of smaller versions so that the person who recited the blessings doesn’t have to pour each little mini-goblet for all of the people attending the meal before they can drink. It also avoids spillage when seeking to pour the wine from the primary goblet to the tiny mini-goblets that are given to each person.

Range of items

We stock a colorful range of ceramic kiddush cups with designs evoking scenes from the Bible, Ancient Israel and patterns of birds and flowers taken from the world around us. There are plastic chalices which are designed to look like the regular shiny items but they are very heavily discounted and they can be used without the same fears of the items being broken. They come in a variety of quantities and can be purchased many at a time in case you are hosting a large meal with many attendees who wish to have their own goblet. Many kiddush cups are sold with saucers.

Why is Wine Special

The purpose of blessing the wine is to sanctify it. That means taking something that is normal, and imbuing it with some spiritual significance. That is indeed the purpose of life according to Jewish tradition – to take something that is simple, basic and even, sometimes, negative, and turning it into something beautiful which gives honor to G-d.

Jewish Wedding Gift Store

Jewish Wedding Gift Store

Our Jewish wedding gift and supply store has everything you need to organize a Jewish Wedding as well as a wide range of gift ideas for sale.

Setting up the right event

Organizing a Jewish wedding can be a daunting task which is why ahuva have a full range of what you’ll need to organise your event. This starts with a range of Jewish wedding invitations from the traditional multi-coloured paper to innovative options such as mini-prayer shawls (talitot) or in full box sets which include RSVP cards and Thank You Cards. We also stock Jewish wedding benchers which are the small pray books used at the end of the meal to say the to thank G-d for the food that has just been consumed.

No Hebrew nuptials would be complete without two of the most important ingredients. First is the Jewish wedding canopy under which the bride and groom are joined together. This can be something simple and elegant of a dramatic piece of art that will hang in the marital home for evermore. We have nearly 50 different varieties to suit all tastes and they can be customized to add a special touch. View our range here Chuppah – Wedding Canopy

Key Ingredients Jewish Wedding Marriage Ceremony - Glass for breaking & Marriage Contract

Another key ingredient for the Jewish wedding marriage is the breaking of the glass. While the breaking of a Jewish wedding glass is often thought of as a happy event because it signals the official close of the wedding, it is really meant to bring a touch of sadness to the event by recalling the destruction of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem by the Romans in the year 97 CE. It is an essential element of the event and no traditional nuptials would be complete without it. We stock glass creations that have been sourced exclusively for the purpose of being broken under the Wedding Canopy. The broken shards can be displayed in our Mezuzot, in a specially built Frame, Vase or Menorah. They are available on our site in gold, silver, blue, purple, pink or emerald green. Each one comes with its own pouch secured by a draw string to keep it clean and the contents safe so they can be cherished for many years to come.

The final necessary ingredient, apart from the bride, groom and witnesses is the Jewish wedding Marriage Contract. In Hebrew, it’s called a Ketubah and more than one are called Ketubot. The traditional transaction is, in many ways, the man making a promise to care for his wife. But more than a general statement of intent, a marriage in Judaism is a legally binding transaction. The man MUST ensure for his wife’s welfare, even in the event of divorce, and he promises in the marriage contract to do so. Should he fail to do so, he will be liable to punishment by the Religious Court system.

In modern times, these Jewish wedding contracts have become incredible works of art to be displayed with pride is a noticeable area of the marital home. We have a range of over 120 different ketobot for you to choose from. Styles vary from traditional to modern and everything in between. They all have empty spaces so you can include the names of the happy couple and room for the witnesses to attest that they saw the event and all the necessary regulations were complied with. You can view our range here Ketubot – Wedding Contract

Getting the right present

It can be difficult to find just the right present for a wedding from the top of your head. So I’m glad that you found our page! We have an amazing array of presents for the happy couple to suit every price range. Our items can be gift wrapped and personalized to make it just that little bit more special.

When it comes to Jewish wedding nuptials in Judaism, there are many traditional gifts that are provided. Generally, it is the time when the bride and groom seek to establish their homes so it’s traditional to provide them with items that will enable them to create a traditional home. Our entire sites has the complete range of items for the best wedding presents so please explore it all. This section is dedicated to specific Jewish marriage-related presents.

While most people get their Jewish wedding rings from jewelers, we stock rings that can’t be found at your regular shopping mall. These are specifically designed as Jewish wedding marriage bands and are inscribed with Hebrew writing taken from beautiful sections describing committed love from the Holy Bible. Under the Chuppah (Wedding Canopy) tradition demands that a cup of wine is consumed. We have a range of cups designed especially for the marriage ceremony with the option of having them engraved with the names of the marital couple or any other words that are appropriate.

Great ideas for presents you may not have considered

We sell standing traditional Roman Columns which light up. I suppose this makes them a little less traditional but they are great to add a touch of color and novelty to your Jewish wedding and marriage ceremony or after for many years. We have great picture frames to display in your home for many years. They are timeless and classic so they will not age, even if you do look back on them and realize how you’ve aged. Marriage-themed art is another specialty with lithographs, albums and sculptures in glass, silver and gold.

A few quick ideas on Jewish Marriage never go astray. Marriage is considered a seminal event in the life of the couple. So much of Judaism is built on the home and the family. Having chosen the person to spend your whole life with - hopefully - the Jewish wedding event that marks the beginning of forever is particularly important. We wish you all the very best on the big day and for your entire marriage. We hope that our products help to make the organization easier and the event sweeter. We would also be pleased to know that our products will hold a precious place in the marital home for many years to come. Mazel Tov!!!

Red String

Red String

An ancient fate jewelry wrist wear.

In Kabbalah wearing a thin scarlet or thin crimson around the wrist is known to influence positive energy while warding off evil and negative spirits. An ancient tradition that carries strength and protection. The tradition is well known both among the orthodox and non religious communities dating back many hundreds of years. The color is scientifically proven to cause higher level of awareness and hence why it's used in safety signs and alerts. Cuffs and Bangles to ward off evil spirits can be seen on our online catalog in many different variations. Variations that are unique and specifically designed from ancient jewish artist's traditions. Some may contain special pesukim (biblical phrases) or kabbalistic combination of letters and others special gemstones that are known to have protective powers and elements. Most of all, our wrist wear carries a fashionable look that you'll want to wear it as a gorgeous piece everyday.
Specially crafted in Israel by Israeli artists many of our wrist wear is specially imbued with symbols and ancient amulets known to protect, heal and bring abundant wealth. When you wear one of our Israeli creations you'll not only enjoy the look but feel different as well. Imagine tapping into the wealth and resources of thousands of years of spiritual history and contact of the divine.
The source of the crimson wrapped around the wrist can be found in the Torah itself. In Bereshit chapter 38 Tamar becomes pregnant from Judah her father in law and gives birth to two twins. Here are the specific pesukim in the Torah where we find instance of the crimson. 27. And it came about at the time she was giving birth, that behold, there were twins in her womb. 28And it came about when she gave birth, that he (the infant) stretched out his hand. So the midwife took and bound a crimson thread on his hand, saying, "This one came out first." 29And it came about, as he was drawing back his hand, behold, his brother emerged, and she said, "With what strength you have strengthened yourself!" And he (Judah) named him Perez. 30Afterwards, his brother emerged, the one upon whose hand was the crimson thread, and he named him Zerah.
With such an ancient source, it's no wonder you'll find many Israelis, Jews from around the world, and now even gentiles who upon visiting Israel will take the opportunity to buy one and wear for themselves. Found at the Western Wall in Jerusalem and often by Rachel's tomb, you'll see vendors of all sorts. However, it's quite often difficult to purchase a high end braided or jeweled piece found only online. Rather than just a thin crimson, the latest and newest fashion feature a strong looped silver chain, a braided leather wrap, and newly available in the most amazing designs in silver and gold.
Many popular pop culture artists have found that wearing one is beautiful and specifically worn to ward off the negative eye. Celebrities like Madonna-and even Madonna's daughter Lourdes-it, Britney Spears, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Lindsay Lohan have instituted the item as fashionable to wear. As a kabbalah amulet and talisman made out of braided leather to protect them from unkind stares and unfriendly glances". The wave of wearing these is Mediterranean in origin and especially used for women wanting to become pregnant. The Torah explains that the key to the womb is directly in the hands of the almighty himself instead of some ministering angel. The crimson is a talisman for that purpose. One non supernatural explanation of the crimson power is that it reminds the wearer to bear himself or herself with humility, so as not to attract envy. An individual's self pride , haughtiness is a source of problem which may cause the blockage of blessings from birth to wealth. Learning to walk humbly before God has been a human endeavor and challenge and when it isn't accomplished by means of logic and thought, it can be a reminder to work at it with a jewelry wristlet. Some of latest fashion crimson ties feature a Jewish charm such as a Hamsa, a star of David and especially an eye as a protective measure. Circlets, arm lets and bangles can feature this ancient protective wear adorning it in new ways and fashionable wear.
